Susan Farady
Project Manager, The Ocean Conservancy-New England Region Susan works on ocean policy and marine ecosystem protection for The Ocean Conservancy, the nation's largest non-profit organization focused on ocean conservation. She opened their New England Regional Office in Portland, Maine in 1999 and leads their efforts to protect the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary and reform ocean governance at the state and federal level. She serves as Chair of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council, an advisor to the Maine Boatyards and Marinas "Clean Marinas" Initiative and the Maine Marine Invasive Species Steering Committee, was appointed by the governor to Maine's Department of Marine Resources Advisory Council and co-authored The Ocean Conservancy's 2001 report on "Marine and Coastal Protected Areas in the U.S. Gulf of Maine Region." She also serves on Vermont Law School's Environmental Law Center Advisory Committee, and teaches ocean and coastal law at the University of Maine School of Law.
