The Goodwin-Niering Center for Conservation Biology and Environmental Studies is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program that builds on one of the nation's leading undergraduate environmental studies programs. The Center fosters research, education, and curriculum development aimed at understanding contemporary ecological challenges.
 

Goodwin-Niering Center Honors Class of 2006

On Saturday, May 20th, the Goodwin-Niering Center held its yearly recognition ceremony to honor its nine graduating seniors. Parents, families, advisors and friends turned out to watch the seniors receive their certificates and speak briefly about their internships, projects, and plans for the future.

President Fainstein, Professor Robert Askins, Director of the Goodwin-Neiring Center and Professor Gerald Visgilio, Associate Director of the Center welcomed the students and guests, and turned to Diana Whitelaw, Associate Director of the Center and Helen F. Mathieson '52, Board of Trustees (Retired) and member of the Goodwin-Niering Center Advisory Board to present the certificates.

Glenn Dreyer, Executive Director of the Center spoke to congratulate the seniors, and introduce the guest speaker, John Cook.

 
John Cook, Regional Managing Director Eastern US Conservation Region, The Nature Conservancy presents his talk entitled: "Science and Conservation: Perspective from the Front Lines."   Ben Alander discusses his internship, project, and plans for the future

 

Helen F. Mathieson '52 presents Ceileigh Syme with her certificate. Ceileigh is this year's recipient of the Helen F. Mathieson '52 Award for excellence in the Goodwin-Niering Center 's certificate program in environmental studies.
