to IWLCA All-Region Team, NESCAC All-Conference Team
NEW LONDON, Conn. --Connecticut
College junior goaltender Paige Diamond of Longmeadow, MA
has been named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference squad as a
second team selection. Diamond has also been named to the
Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (!WLCA)
All-Region Team.
A
2001 graduate of Suffield Academy, Diamond made 216 saves
in 15 starts for the Camels, averaging better than 14 saves
a game. A tri-captain of the team, Diamond finished the season
second in NESCAC and was 11th in all of Division III with
a .603 save percentage, stopping 216-of-358 shots on goal.
Under the direction of head coach Anne Crosby, Connecticut
College ended the season with a four-game winning streak to
finish with an 8-8 record. During that stretch, Diamond ignited
the Camels with her superb play between the pipes. Diamond
stopped 65 shots and posted an 8.49 Goal’s Against Average
in the final four contests. She stopped a season-high 23 shots
in a 14-8 victory at Eastern Connecticut State April 18. In
the season finale April 24, Diamond turned away 18 shots to
key a 10-9 overtime victory over Tufts for the Camels.
“Paige is
an amazing goalie and leader for us,” Coach Crosby stated.
“This year she took her game to a new level with her
ability to intercept the ball and come out of the crease.
This award is a true honor for her and the program.”
Diamond is also a goalie on the Connecticut College women’s
soccer team. She played a significant role as the starting
keeper on the Camels 2002 team that finished with a 10-5-1
record.

Camels Close Season With Fourth Straight Victory
NEW LONDON, Conn. --Freshman
Molly McConaty (Denver, CO) scored with just one second left
in overtime, lifting the Connecticut College Camels (8-8,
2-7) to a 10-9 victory over the Tufts University Jumbos (6-6,
3-6) Saturday afternoon. Junior Sarah Tacy (Exeter, NH) set
up the game-winner and dished out four assists in the NESCAC
tilt. Sophomore Kelsey Sullivan (Northfield, MA) contributed
four goals for the hosts. Christine Cunha (Lexington, MA)
tallied three goals and Catherine Clark (W. Hartford, CT)
chipped in with two goals and two assists.
Sophomore Dena
Miller (Denver, CO) led the Jumbos with four goals and one
assist. Danielle Vardaro (N. Reading, MA) contributed two
scores for Tufts.
The Jumbos built
a 3-0 lead early keyed by two goals from Miller. The Camels
rallied to close the lead to one, benefiting from a Christine
Cunha goal with 16 seconds remaining that made it a 4-3 score
at the break. Later on in the second stanza, Cunha put the
Camels ahead 7-6 with 5:41 to play.
After a timeout,
the Jumbos countered with two goals 22 seconds apart, to take
an 8-7 lead with 3:33 on the clock. In the seesaw battle,
the Camels scored the next two goals, taking a 9-8 advantage
on Catherine Clark’s goal with 1:52 to go. But Miller
netted the equalizer for the visitors with just 36 seconds
left, forcing the extra session.
In the overtime,
junior Paige Diamond (Longmeadow, MA) was brilliant, making
two of her 18 stops on close range shots. With time winding
down, Tacy spotted McConaty for the game-winner, ending the
Camel season with a four-game winning streak…Junior
Sarah Lipson (Arlington, MA) finished with 11 saves in net
for the Jumbos…With her four points today, Catherine
Clark moved into eighth place in the Camel all-time goal scoring
and assist leader list.

Camels Roll To Third Straight Win
NEW LONDON, Conn. --Senior
Catherine Clark (West Hartford, CT) and junior Sarah Tacy
(Exeter, NH) netted four goals apiece Tuesday afternoon, propelling
the Connecticut College Camels (7-8) to a 14-11 victory over
visiting Babson College (9-5) on Harkness Green. Sophomore
Kelsey Sullivan (Northfield, MA) chipped in with two goals
and two assists. Maggie Driscoll (Peabody, MA) dished out
three assists as the Camels picked up their third straight
victory. Libby Bryant (Arrowsic, ME) and Alexa Rad (Upper
Brookville, NY) each had three goals and an assist to lead
the visiting Beavers.
The Camels took
a 6-5 lead into the break on the third score of the day from
Catherine Clark, set up on a picture perfect pass from Kelsey
Sullivan. But the Beavers rallied early in the second half,
netting five unanswered goals over a span of 3:28 to build
a 10-7 lead. The Camels rebounded and mounted a rally of their
own. Emily Stieff (Baltimore, MD) got one goal back with 22:45
to play, winning a draw and sprinting the length of the field
for a fast break score. Tacy netted the next two scores, and
Clark evened the game at 11 with her fourth of the afternoon
and 15:06 to play.
Sophomore Christine
Cunha (Lexington, MA) put the Camels on top 12-11 with 10:57
to go. Tacy and Sullivan added insurance goals for the Camels
who held on for the 14-11 victory. Junior Paige Diamond (Longmeadow,
MA) had 14 saves for the Camels. Freshman Jennie Williams
(Andover, MA) made nine stops for the Beavers. Camel senior
defender Sarah Lane (Darien, CT) was a defensive standout,
finishing with a team-high six ground balls and adding a goal.
Connecticut College will host Tufts University Saturday afternoon
in the season finale.

Stieff and Tacy's Hat-Tricks Lead Camels to Second Straight
Win

The Connecticut College Camels (6-8) earned their second straight
win with a14-8 victory over Eastern Connecticut State Sunday
afternoon. Senior captain Emily Stieff and junior Sarah Tacy
netted three goals each, leading the offensive assault as
nine different players scored for the Camels. Sophomore Maggie
Driscoll had two goals and three assists en route to a five-point
day. Sophomore Kelsey Sullivan chipped in with two goals and
Catherine Clark added a goal and an assist for Connecticut
College.
Junior
captain Paige Diamond made 23 saves for the Camels. Bolstered
by three early scores from Tacy, the Camels carried a 4-1
lead early, building a 9-4 lead at the half. Sarah Lane, Catherine
Clark, Christine Cunha and Sarah Chandler netted single goals
for Connecticut College. In the last two games, the Camels
have out-scored the opposition 34-17. Emily Stieff tallied
seven goals and two assists in her last two starts. Connecticut
College is 4-1 in road games this season. The Camels close
the season this week with home dates against Babson Tuesday
at 4:30 and Tufts Saturday at noon.

Stieff, Clark Net Four Goals Each to Lead Offense
Wellesley, Mass. --Seniors
Catherine Clark and Emily Stieff
each scored four goals Thursday afternoon, leading the Connecticut
College Camels (5-8) to a 20-9 victory over Wellesley College
(2-7) at Wellesley. Kelsey Sullivan and Sarah Tacy each chipped
in with three scores. Sophomore Maggie Driscoll dished out
three assists with two scores en route to a five-point game.
Christine Cunha netted two goals with two assists.
Leading
10-6 early in the second half, the Camels notched seven unanswered
goals during an eight-minute
span to build a commanding 17-6 advantage with 18:52 remaining.
Kelsey Sullivan scored two of her three goals in the run,
keying the rally. Laura Bender had three goals to lead Wellesley.
All
three Camel goalies saw action in the game. Paige Diamond
made 10 saves in the first half of action, and has recorded
161 stops this season...Catherine Clark vaulted her way into
the top 10 of the Camel All-Time scoring list today. Clark
has amassed 87 goals, and also is ninth all-time with 30 assists.
Emily Stieff has put up some lofty offensive numbers for a
midfielder, netting 63 goals, and dishing out 29 assists for
92 career points...The Camels visit Eastern Connecticut Sunday.

College (7-2, 5-0) topped Connecticut College (4-8, 1-7) 13-6
in NESCAC women’s lacrosse action Tuesday night at Trinity
College. Williams led 5-3 at the half but out-scored the Camels
8-3 in the final 30 minutes of play. Sophomores Kelsey Sullivan
and Maggie Driscoll netted two goals apiece for the Camels.
Catherine Clark finished with one goal and one assist. Senior
Sarah Lane added a goal. Junior Paige Diamond had 15 saves
for the Camels. The Camels will visit Wellesley College Thursday
afternoon…Paige Diamond ranks second in the NESCAC with
a .579 save percentage in net. Christine Cunha and Maggie
Driscoll are tied for 6th in assists, dishing out 1.36 per
game. Catherine Clarke has amassed 83 goal, 30 assists and
113 points in her four-year career.

Four Goals for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn. --Senior
Kate Wheeler netted three goals Saturday afternoon, lifting
the Colby College Mules (4-5, 2-3) to a 10-7 victory over
Connecticut College (4-7, 1-6). Senior Catherine Clark finished
with four goals with one assist for Connecticut College. Freshman
Molly McConaty finished with two goals and one assist for
the Camels.
In the opening
half, Connecticut College took a 4-3 lead on the second score
of the day from Clark, assisted by Emily Stieff with 12 minutes
left before the half. Sarah Tacy made it a 5-3 game with 10:23
to play before the break. But the Mules rallied to tie the
game at the half, evening the score on a Cara Dionisi goal
with just 12 seconds left.
In the second half,
the Mules scored two quick goals in the opening 1:31 to gain
a 7-5 lead. The Camels fought back and netted the next two
scores, evening the game at seven on Clarke’s fourth
goal of the day. But Colby would score the last three goals
of the game, two of them coming off the stick of Kate Wheeler.
The Mules were able to hang on to 10-7 victory.
Catharine O’Brien
had seven saves for Colby. Junior Paige Diamond made 17 saves
for the Camels.

South Hadley, Mass. --Junior
Sarah Tacy erupted for five goals to lead an offensive assault
as Connecticut College (4-6) topped Mount Holyoke College
(0-7) 19-6 in non-conference women's lacrosse action Thursday
afternoon. Maggie Driscoll finished with five assists and
a goal en route to a six-point afternoon. Sophomore Christine
Cunha (3 goals, 2 assists) put together a five-point effort.
Senior Catherine Clark tallied a hat-trick with three goals.
Freshman
Molly McConaty contributed with a goal and two assists. Courtney
Irving got in on the action with two scores. Molly Charest
tallied a goal and an assist and Emily Stieff dished out two
assists. Paige Diamond, Alix Werner, and Sara Griesbach teamed
up to make 14 saves in net for the Camels. The Camels put
up five quick scores and scored nine unanswered goals to build
a comfortable 14-1 lead at the half.
Caitlin
Taylor and Nicole Tuma led the Lyons with two goals apiece.

Goals for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn. --The
Amherst College Lord Jeffs (7-1, 4-1) recorded up an 18-8
victory over Connecticut College (3-6, 1-5) in NESCAC women’s
lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon. Senior midfielder Jackie
Sargent led the visitors to victory with six goals. Senior
tri-captain Emily Stieff tallied a hat-track for Connecticut
College, finishing with three goals. Sophomore Maggie Driscoll
dished out three assists.
In the first half,
Amherst led early on and built a 5-1 lead on the second goal
of the afternoon for Jackie Sargent with 11:33 to go before
the break. The Camels rallied to score four unanswered goals
over the next 2:54 and even the game at five. Emily Stieff
keyed the scoring spurt, scoring two goals during the run.
The Jeffs answered the rally by scoring the final four goals
of the half, three of them off the stick of Allison Aldrich.
The visitors carried a 9-5 lead into the break.
Sarah Tacy opened
the second half scoring, taking a pass from Maggie Driscoll
and depositing into the back of the net and it was a 9-6 game.
But the Jeffs offense took control, scoring the next seven
goals and putting the game out of reach. Olivia D’Ambrosio
finished with five saves for Amherst. Junior Paige Diamond
had 18 stops for the Camels.
The Camels will
visit Mount Holyoke College Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

Camels Breakout in First
Conference Win
Lewiston, Maine. --Sophomore
Christine Cunha netted three goals with two assists to lead
an offensive outburst as Connecticut College (3-5, 1-4) picked
up a 14-11 victory over Bates College (4-6, 0-5) Saturday.
Freshmen Molly Charest and Molly McConaty chipped in with
two goals apiece. Sophomore Kelsey Sullivan finished with
one goal and two assists for the Camels. Paige Diamond earned
the victory in net, stopping 14 shots for the Camels.
Trailing
5-4 in the second quarter, the Camels bounced back with a
surge at the end of the half. Sarah Chandler netted her second
goal of the season with 4:43 to go in the half to even the
score at five. Just 20 seconds later, Molly Charest put the
Camels in front 6-5, taking an assisting pass from Kelsey
Sullivan. With 43 seconds to go in the half, Molly McConaty
tallied her second score of the day. Catherine Clark capped
the four-goal run, scoring with just four seconds left on
the clock.
Bates
battled back to pull within one of the Camels on two separate
occasions. With 6:34 to go, the Bobcats scored to make it
an 11-10 game. The Camels would not relinquish their lead.
Maggie Driscoll made it a 12-10 game with 3:23 to play. Molly
Charest and Christine Cunha added insurance goals for the
Camels who held on for the 14-11 win.
Head
Coach Anne Crosby and the Camels will host the Amherst College
Jeffs this Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m on Harkness Green.

NEW LONDON, Conn. --The
women’s lacrosse game originally scheduled to be played
today at Connecticut College against Wesleyan University has
been moved with a new time. The game will be played at 8:00
p.m. tonight under the lights at Trinity College in Hartford.

Brunswick, Maine. --The
Bowdoin College Polar Bears (4-1) used a second half surge
to pull out a 16-4 victory over Connecticut College (2-4)
Saturday afternoon. Catherine Clark finished with two goals
to lead the Camels offensively. Kelsey Sullivan and Christine
Cunha added single tallies for Connecticut College. The Camels
trailed by just three goals at the break, 7-4, but had trouble
finding the offense in the second stanza. Junior Paige Diamond
had 17 saves in net for Connecticut College. The Camels will
host Wesleyan this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.

over host Connecticut College (2-3, 0-2) in NESCAC women’s
lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon. Junior attacker Beatrice
Gratry led the Bantams with three goals and three assists.
Freshman Molly
McConaty tallied two goals and an assist for Connecticut College.
Sophomore Christine Cunha dished out three assists for the
Camels. Junior captain Paige Diamond recorded 21 saves in
between the pipes for the hosts.
Connecticut College
gained an early advantage and opened up a 3-1 lead on a score
from junior Sarah Tacy 5:56 into the game. After the Bantams
evened the game at three, Molly McConaty put the Camels back
on top, netting a score with 10:06 left in the half. In the
back and forth battle, Trinity carried a 6-5 lead into the
break on the second goal of the day from Beatrice Gratry.
In the second stanza,
the visitors scored four of the first five goals of the half
to build a 10-6 lead. Freshman Molly Charest provided a spark
for the home team; netting a goal with 15:56 remaining that
made it a 10-7 contest. But the Camels could not narrow the
gap and the Bantams were able to escape with the 13-8 victory.

defenseman Sarah Lane played a strong second half for the
Camels. Connecticut College will try to rebound with a home
game against Trinity College in New London Wednesday afternoon
at 4:00 p.m...The Camels completed their trip to Bermuda with
a 10-8 victory over St. Michael's College Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Christine Cunha had a goal and four assists to key
the victory. Through four games, Kelsey Sullivan leads the
club with nine goals and 11 points. Sophomore standouts Christine
Cunha and Maggie Driscoll check in with nine points apiece.
Despite the shift in venue and frigid temperature at Saturday's
game, the Connecticut College seating was filled to capacity.

Bermuda--Sophomore
Kelsey Sullivan erupted for four goals Sunday afternoon, leading
Connecticut College (1-0) to a 16-5 victory over Endicott
College (1-1) in the season opener. The Camels will face the
Wheaton College Lyons this afternoon.

Preview
Taking
offense. With four of her top seven scorers returning this
spring, Head Coach Anne Crosby has offense on her mind. The
Camels averaged 11 goals per game over the final eight games
of the season and are ready to put some points on the board
in the spring of 2004. Crosby has made offense a priority
in her recruiting and it’s starting to pay off for Camel
fans. Connecticut College will open the 2004 season Sunday,
March 14 against Endicott College. After tuning up for a week
in Bermuda with three non-conference games, the Camels will
host Middlebury College in the NESCAC season opener March
20 at 11:00 a.m. Let’s take a position-by-position look
at the 2004 Camels.
Attack
Senior Catherine Clark is an explosive offensive player and
is coming off an exceptional junior season. Clark led the
club in all three major offensive categories, notching 24
goals, with 11 assists and 35 points. Junior Sarah Tacy netted
five goals in limited action due to injury last season and
will be counted on for instant offense. Three newcomers join
this group. Freshmen Molly Charest, Courtney Irving, and Molly
McConaty have impressed the coaching staff in the pre-season
and will make immediate contributions up front.

Midfield
The Camels have plenty of depth along the midfield. Senior
tri-captain Emily Stieff is a talented two-sport athlete with
explosive speed. Stieff has the ability to create separation
from the opponent and erupted for 15 goals and 20 points in
2003. The Camels also have several talented sophomores returning.
Maggie Driscoll notched a team-high 52 ground balls and registered
14 points. Kelsey Sullivan is coming off a 19-goal rookie
season and was one of the top newcomers in the NESCAC. Christine
Cunha, and Melissa Ridgway each return to the midfield with
a year’s playing experience. Freshman Sarah Chandler
is ready to contribute in her rookie season on the midfield.

Defense
Seniors Kyle Ridgway and Sarah Lane will anchor the defensive
corps. Ridgway tallied 32 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers
in 2003. Sarah Lane is a team leader and tri-captain of the
2004 squad. Lane has scooped up 78 ground balls over the last
three seasons and is a reliable defender. Junior Mary Scott
caused nine turnovers and should see plenty of action this
spring. Sophomore Perri Lawrie and Kate Reardon will also
contribute with a full year of experience behind them. Freshman
Lindsay Graff displayed her athleticism as a member of the
Camel soccer team this fall and will bolster the defense this
spring. Junior tri-captain Paige Diamond made 144 saves in
14 games played last season and is ready to lead her team
in 2004. Sophomore Alix Werner appeared in seven games as
a freshman and will also see action in net. Freshman goaltender
Sara Griesbach joins the team this season and will compete
for minutes in between the pipes.

With 14 players
returning and six talented newcomers joining the squad, the
2004 Connecticut College women’s lacrosse season promises
to bring plenty of excitement for Camel fans. Head Coach Anne
Crosby is anticipating an exciting season of Camel Lacrosse.
“Our seniors and are playing with poise and confidence
on the field and it is carrying over to the rest of the team,” Crosby asserted.
