Students planting a tree

Social Entrepreneurship Initiative

The Holleran Center Social Entrepreneurship Initiative supports students in their efforts to become "transformative forces: people with new ideas to address major problems and who are relentless in the pursuit of their visions."

Some funded projects include:

  • Spokespeople, for the creation of a campus bike collective
  • Sexual Assault Free Environment (SAFE), for the creation of a resource book
  • Science Educators Group, for the implementation of an innovative science partnership in local schools
  • Cambiando Vidas, for an alternative break trip to build houses in the Dominican Republic
  • Proof of Community, for a photo exhibit documenting the community learning experiences of college students
  • Rap Sessions, for a town hall style dialogue on gender and hip-hop

The Holleran Center seeks proposals from students and student groups who are creatively pursuing lasting social change on campus and in the broader community. The Holleran Center will fund selected projects up to $500. Applicants must clearly articulate their vision and demonstrate they have the potential, commitment and the skills to realize their vision. Proposals are due by October 15 each year.
