Google Apps Transition

Google has notified us that our Google user accounts are scheduled to be modified on August 7th to increase the number of services that users can access from their Connecticut College Google account. Google Products, such as YouTube and Picasa Web Albums, will now be available from your Connecticut College Google account. In order to gain access to these additional services, Google will be making modifications to transition your Connecticut College Google Apps account into a full Google account.

This transition process is usually seamless; however, if you had used your Connecticut College email address to access other Google Services, such as YouTube, you may have a conflict. A conflict only exists if you have used your Connecticut College email address (@conncoll.edu) to access Google services that were not included with your account (i.e. Gmail, Calendar, Sites & Groups). If you have a conflict account, you will receive a notification from Google along with instructions on how to resolve the conflict. Google has provided a video to explain in more detail about "conflict accounts":

More information about this can be found here.

If you have a conflict account, the next time you log in to your personal account you will be presented with a notice asking you to resolve the conflict. It is reccommended that you follow the prompts to update your account.

If you have questions or wish to discuss this issue further, please contact the Connecticut College Help Desk at x4357, or email us at mailto:helpdesk@conncoll.edu.
