Windows AntiVirus Software Installation

Connecticut College has a license that allows members of the college community to download Norton Antivirus.

Before beginning the installation of Norton Antivirus, you will need to determine which Windows Operating System (OS) your computer is running. 

Before installing antivirus from Conn College, remove any pre-existing antivirus programs.

• Windows XP - go to cedar.conncoll.edu to begin the installation process

• Windows Vista- First determine if you are using the 32 or 64 bit version of the operating system.  Go to Start, right click on Computer, and select Properties; it is located at the bottom of the window.  Then download the antivirus for your specific version of Vista.
  • 32 Bit- http://oak.conncoll.edu/VistaNAV/WIN32VISTA.zip
  • 64 Bit- http://oak.conncoll.edu/VistaNAV/WIN64VISTA.zip

                Choose "Open" from the dialog box, and WinZip or a similar program should open.  Choose "Extract" and give it a location to put the files.  Once they have been extracted, go the the location you gave and double-click "Setup".  Follow the instructions given by the installer to complete the install process.
