Using a Personal Firewall

A firewall protects your computer from hackers. If you have this function on your computer it should be turned on.

If you are using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, turn on the firewall. Go to: http://protect.microsoft.com/security/protect/WSA/en/default.asp and click "start here."

If you do not use Windows XP, consider buying firewall software, such as Symantec Personal Firewall available at: http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/npf/.
