Guide:
Finding and registering your game console´s MAC address
The MAC Address, not to can be confused with Apple, is also known as the physical address or hardware address. All Ethernet devices have one. In order to use your gaming console on the network, this address must be registered with the campus network registration system (also known as Clean Access). If you already know your console's MAC address, click here to register it.
Summary:
This guide shows you how to find and register the MAC address of some of the more popluar game consoles: GameCube, Xbox, Xbox 360, or a PlayStation 2. If you don’t see your game console listed here check for a label on the back of the console, and/or with the manufacturers website for instructions on how to obtain the MAC Address. Other devices such as: Nintendo Wii, and Sony Playstation 3 can be used on the network, once registered.
Xbox:
- Turn on your Xbox console with no game disc in the disc tray.
- From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Settings.
- From the Settings screen, select Network Settings.
- The mac address is the 12-digit number and letter sequence at the bottom-right corner of the Network Settings screen.
- Once you have the mac address, you may proceed to the game console registration page and register your Xbox. Once the console registration is complete, allow 48 hours then you should be able to successfully connect your game console to the network.
- Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard.
- Select Network Settings.
- Select Edit Settings.
- Select Additional Settings.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- At the bottom of this screen you´ll see a heading called Wired mac Address, which is your mac address.
- Once you have the mac address, you may proceed to the game console registration page and register your Xbox 360 (Select Xbox at the Console Type selection).
- Power up the PlayStation 2 and load the Network Adaptor Startup Disc.
- Once it has loaded, select ISP Setup and press X.
- The ISP SETUP will begin to load, and you will be presented with a license agreement. Select Agree and press X to continue.
- For connection type, choose Local Area Network (LAN) and press X to continue.
- Select Automatic Configuration and press X to continue.
- At the connection test screen, select Advanced and press X to continue.
- At the Advanced Broadband Settings screen, make sure Automatic is selected. While you are at this screen, make note of the mac Address at the bottom. You will need this number to register your game console.
- Once you have the mac address, you may proceed to the game console registration page and register your PlayStation.
- Remove the GameCube´s broadband adapter from the console.
- Printed on the underside of the adaptor is a mac address. Write this down.
- Once you have the mac address, you may proceed to the game console registration page and register your GameCube (Select GameCube at the Console Type selection).
