Student Printing in the Library
In Shain Library, color and black and white printing is available from all the campus community computer stations. Students can also print from their dorm rooms or from the wireless network on campus.
Black and white printing is billed at $.06 per sheet and color at $.50 per sheet. Note that the charge is per sheet, not per page which means double-sided printing not only saves resources, but costs less. Connecticut College Information Services is dedicated to making minimal environmental impact in all of our operations. We use post-consumer recycled paper and reusable soy-based ink toner cartridges.
Each student receives an initial printing credit of $30.00 for the academic year. If that amount is exceeded, additional printing charges are automatically billed through the campus accounting office. The current balance in a user's printing account is available at the print-release stations there.
Printing from the computer stations
Instructions for using the Connecticut College Uniprint system are available at all the printing sites. Print jobs need to be released to be printed within 24 hours.
Printing from campus dorm rooms or the campus wireless network
The Uniprint client will need to be installed to print from dorm rooms or the campus wireless network. This software can be found on the Software Library. Refer to http://www.conncoll.edu/computing/6251.htm for information on how to access the Software Library.
Once you are in the Software Library, click on Window or Mac and navigate to the "Print to Shain Library" folder. Inside the folder is a Readme file. Open this file and follow the directions for installing the Uniprint client. Contact the Help Desk (ext. 4357) with any questions or problems installing the client. Print jobs need to be released to be printed within 24 hours.
