Research

We offer American studies program majors a variety of opportunities to conduct research and follow their own interests.

If you choose to major in American studies, you are required to complete a community service, internship or fieldwork component by the second semester of your senior year. This requirement can be met in combination with any of the College's certificate programs, through Career Enhancing Life Skills (CELS), as part of a service learning class, during the summer break, or through the Office of Volunteers in Community Service (OVCS). Requirements for the certificate programs include a challenging combination of course work, in-depth research and a funded summer internship in the U.S. or abroad.
