Biology Peer Mentor Program
Peer mentoring in the biological sciences is an academic support program designed to enhance student learning, performance and retention. Biology peer mentors are Connecticut College students chosen by faculty members and trained and supervised by program coordinators and instructors to work with students outside of class with course content and materials.
Each peer mentor holds two hour-long sessions per week. These sessions, open to all students enrolled in Bio 105, 106 and 208, are forums for review, for asking questions, for help and for support regarding the class. Mentoring sessions are discussion based and are designed to reinforce the content of the course and to offer course-specific study, problem solving and test preparation strategies.
Faculty sponsors for the peer mentors are Andrea Rossi-Reder, Deborah Eastman and Susan Warren.
