Study Away

Majors are encouraged to spend a semester or summer abroad where they can see first hand the cultural monuments of ancient Greece and Rome. This is most often done during or following the junior year.

For Greece, The College Year at Athens offers a wide array of courses on the language, art, archaeology, and history of ancient Greece, as well as courses treating aspects of the contemporary Mediterranean. (Picured at left, the College Year in Athens Academic Center.)

The Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome (pictured below) allows firsthand experience of the monuments and culture of the ancient city of Rome and its environs. Courses treat the ancient world and languages as well as modern Italy. There is an Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Sicily as well.

The College also provides numerous study away programs which are open to Classics students. Visit the Office of Study Away section to learn more about study abroad, study away, Study Away/Teach Away, TRIP and more.
