Courses
Our dance majors and minors study ballet, modern and post-modern technique, choreography, improvisation, partnering, world dance, dance history, dance writing, music for dance, dance and technology, among others.
All dance students gain a rigorous general education through academic work outside of the department.
Recommended courses for freshmen interested in the dance major for their first semester are: DAN 251 - technique, DAN 145 - dance history, and DAN 107 - experimental.
We look for dedicated dancers and college citizens with a variety of interests who are willing to explore and develop themselves technically, artistically, creatively and intellectually. Our educational mission is to prepare students to enter the profession - and life - with vision, breadth of knowledge, and depth of understanding.
