Japanese Study Away Programs

Connecticut College is a charter member of the consortium that administers the Associated Kyoto Program (AKP), a year-long study program at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. AKP students take intensive Japanese language classes and two courses taught in English each semester. Credit equivalent to a full course load at Connecticut College transfers automatically, and students who receive financial aid from College can apply it to their year at AKP. All AKP students are placed in home stay with Japanese families who live within commuting distance to the Doshisha campus.

All students returning from a Japanese language program outside of the college (except AKP) are required to take an oral and written placement test to gain academic credit and/or place into the appropriate level of our program.
