The Student Experience
Connecticut College senior hopes to give back to the city she grew up in
A New London native, and teacher certification candidate, Rosa Diaz '06, plans to return as educator to the hometown she is proud of. She was featured in a March 9, 2006, article in The Day, New London's daily newpaper. Here is an excerpt:
"This spring, after graduation, when many of her friends will head to jobs in New York, Boston, San Francisco or overseas, Diaz will seek her state teacher certification. She hopes to teach in New London.
' "The fact that Rosa is not only from New London but also a graduate from Edgerton sends a profound message to students," said Edgerton School Principal Anna James. “It tells them that any dream is possible and that there are caring teachers that return home to teach.' "

Rosa's experience is only one of dozens of smart, fascinating students at Connecticut College who have chosen teaching as a profession.
