Faculty Awards

Tristan Borer and M.A. Borrelli have both received the John King Faculty Teaching Award for Excellence in Teaching, bestowed annually on the College's top teacher.

Dorothy James was awarded the Connecticut College Student Government Association Award for Teaching Excellence / Most Valued Professor Award. The Policy Studies Association, a national organization, granted her the Outstanding Woman in the Field of Policy Studies Award.

John Coats was awarded the Nancy Nisbet Rash Faculty Research Award for Excellence in Academic Research, bestowed  annually on the College's top scholar.

Majors: Departmental Awards

These awards, typically a book chosen by the student's primary mentor, are given to graduating seniors in both Government and International Relations.

Louise Holborn Prize: For excellence in government and an interest in the practical aspects of politics. Established by the 1963 senior government majors to honor the late Professor Emeritus of Government on the occasion of her retirement.

Robert E. Lorish Prize: To a senior government (or international relations) major who has demonstrated excellence in the study of international affairs and who has the qualities of leadership, judgment and maturity that characterized Professor Lorish's tenure as chairman of the department.

Mary Foulke Morrison Memorial Award: For outstanding work in the field of American Government. Presented by the League of Women Voters of New London and Waterford. In memory of Mary Foulke Morrison, charter member of the LWV of the United States, founder of the LWV of Connecticut and Illinois, president of the LWV of New London, and Trustee of Connecticut College for 34 years.
