Sponsors and Organizer
This conference received major support from Connecticut College’s Toor Cummings Center for International Studies and the Liberal Arts. Additional sponsorship was provided by the College’s President, Dean of the Faculty, Dean of the College Community, Dean of Studies and the Freshman Year, Information Services, Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy, Center for the Comparative Study of Race and Ethnicity, and the departments of and programs in American Studies, Anthropology, Education, Government, Hispanic Studies, History, and Latin American Studies.

The conference was organized by Frank Graziano, John D. MacArthur Professor and chair of the Hispanic studies department. Very special thanks to Nancy Lewandowski and also to María Cruz-Saco, Robert Gay and Aida Heredia.


Continuing Education Units
CEUs are available for attending the conference. There is no charge other than the conference registration fee. Please request a CEU participation sheet.

Location
All conference sessions will take place in the College Center at Crozier-Williams, known on campus as Cro. The plenary events, continental breakfasts, refreshments and exhibit tables are in the 1962 Room East; lunch vendors and table seating are in the 1962 Room West.

Connecticut College is located in New London, approximately midway between New York City and Boston (two hours to either by car) on Interstate 95. At a one-hour distance to the north and south, respectively, are Providence and New Haven. There are Amtrak, bus and ferry (from Long Island) stations in New London, and the closest airports are Providence (the most convenient airport) and Hartford, both about one hour from campus.

Parking
Free visitor parking is available in the south parking lot on the Connecticut College campus (turn left when entering through the main gate). There is a 5- to 10-minute walk from the parking lot to the conference site. On Saturday and Sunday, visitors may park in faculty and staff spaces (but not student, coned or reserved spaces) anywhere on campus.

Shuttles
Shuttle vans will transport conference participants to and from the hotel, the conference site and the evening social events. Details are in the shuttle schedule included in the conference packet.
