Neuroscience students learn to knit to understand memory, motor coordination, and addiction

The behavioral neuroscience major includes introductory and intermediate courses in biology, psychology and chemistry. These are followed by more advanced courses in psychology and biology, including ones that are focused on neuroscience, such as:

  • Behavioral Neuroscience (PSY/BIO 314)
  • Psychopharmacology (PSY/BIO 322)
  • Behavioral Endocrinology (PSY/BIO 409)
  • Neurobiology of Disease (PSY/BIO 336)
  • Comparative Psychology (PSY 332) and
  • Cognitive Brain Imaging (PSY 343)

Students in Professor Grahn's Behavioral Neuroscience course begin the semester by learning to knit, an experience they draw upon throughout the semester as they encounter topics in memory, motor coordination and addiction.
