Study Abroad

Psychology majors typically study abroad in Great Britain, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The College's own SATA programs involving psychology faculty have been offered in Mexico and Italy and will be offered next spring in Vietnam. Connecticut College promotes an understanding of international cultures and issues. Studying abroad can bring important international perspectives to your academic experience. You’ll work with your adviser to find a program approved by the College that meets your academics goals. Learn more about study-abroad programs.

You may choose to enrich your psychology major with study abroad or a College-funded summer internship in a medical center, social services agency or other organization here or abroad. 

You might also choose to combine the psychology major with a certificate from one of the College interdisciplinary academic centers. For example, many psychology majors have conducted cross-cultural studies for their honors theses and collected data while on SATA semesters or summer internships in India, Greece, Argentina, Germany, France, Morocco and other countries. A scholar in the Toor Cummings Center for International Studies and the Liberal Arts (CISLA) interned with an advocacy group in Argentina and has done cross-cultural studies of body image and eating disorders.
