Russian class at Connecticut College

Courses

Students taking courses in Slavic Studies have the opportunity to study not only the Russian language, but also contemporary issues in Russian culture and society, as well as comparative Slavic literatures, film, art history, gender studies, theater, history, environmental government, and linguistics.

Our four-year program in Russian language emphasizes active learning from day one and incorporates new technologies (such as iPods, Skype sessions, and video-conferencing with students in Russia), study abroad, and a language-in-context approach to bring students to advanced-level proficiency by their fourth year. In addition to Russian, you can also study Czech, Croatian, and Polish on an individual study basis.

All students in Elementary Russian receive a video-iPod loaded with Russian folk songs, fairy tales, music videos, podcasts, and animated films, as well as a nine-day, fully funded TRIP to Moscow and St. Petersburg to be taken during spring break 2009.

The links at right will take you to the Course Catalog and Course Schedules for more detailed descriptions of our department's course offerings.
