The education department at Connecticut College invites applications for a tenure track, assistant professor in Secondary Teacher Education/Educational Foundations to begin fall 2009. As Connecticut College is a liberal arts institution, this is an opportunity to become part of a small, dynamic team of teacher-scholars dedicated to developing critical educators and teacher candidates ready to take on their role as public intellectuals in the twenty-first century. 

Required Qualifications

PhD or EdD required or near completion. Demonstrated knowledge of critical theory/pedagogy and commitment to social justice issues in public schools. A strong concentration in science and/or math education and measurement, evaluation/assessment or related field. Teaching experience at the secondary/middle school level.

Desired Qualifications

Strong quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis skills; program evaluation experience; K-12 teaching experience in urban settings; we seek candidates who are able to critique the culturally dominant views of science and math.

Responsibilities

Faculty at Connecticut College are typically responsible for a3/2 teaching load. Salary is competitive.  Tenure-track faculty members receive a research stipend for their first two summers and a semester’s leave at full salary after their third year if they are reappointed for the full probationary period.
