Computer Science Postdoctoral Fellow

One-year appointment at Wesleyan University

The CTW Consortium (Connecticut College, Trinity College and Wesleyan University) announces a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in Computer Science generously funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to begin in August 2009.

The fellow will be assigned as a visiting professor at Wesleyan University and will be responsible for teaching a total of two courses, at least one of which will be available to all three campuses via videoconferencing. Another post-doc sponsored by Mellon started a two-year term at Connecticut College in 2008. These fellowships will help all three institutions enrich their scholarly and research environments by expanding their Computer Science course offerings and adding to the breadth of existing research.

All three institutions in the CTW consortium are highly selective private liberal arts colleges that emphasize excellence in teaching as well as research. The Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity for research and innovative course development. The reduced teaching load of one course per semester ensures ample time for research. Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research in a liberal arts setting.

Applicants should have received a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field in the last five years. Responsibilities will include conducting research, preparing new intermediate or advanced courses in the fellow’s area of specialty, giving seminar talks at both undergraduate and research levels and involving undergraduates in research.
