Full-time lecturer
Connecticut College, a private, highly selective institution with a demonstrated commitment to outstanding teaching and research by its faculty, is seeking a full-time lecturer in psychology beginning July 1, 2010.
Recognizing that intellectual vitality and diversity are inseparable, the College has embarked on a successful initiative to diversify its faculty, student body, and curriculum. The College seeks strong teachers excited about working in a liberal arts setting, with its strong focus on engaged teaching, participation in shared governance, and active involvement in an institution-wide advancement of diversity.
Lecturers are voting members of the faculty and vital contributors to their departments. Their teaching load is 3/3. Lecturer appointments begin with a two-year period; upon successful reviews, the next two appointments are for three and five years, followed by subsequent five-year periods. Lecturers are eligible to apply for College funding to support study, research, and travel.
Responsibilities include the following: fall and spring teaching 3 lab sections of Introduction to Psychology as a Natural Science; both semesters academic advising and serving on departmental and college committees. Duties also include curricular development and revision of laboratory manuals. M.A. in Psychology required. Teaching experience preferred. Review of applications will begin January 15th, 2010 and continue until the position is filled.
