Alumni/Advancement Writer

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE seeks a talented writer to create polished, compelling copy for news articles, the alumni magazine, newsletters, websites and other college publications. This is an exciting and creative storytelling opportunity to help advance the fundraising case for Connecticut College.

The writer will assist in formulating and writing annual giving appeals, fundraising proposals, reports, scripts, citations and a host of print and digital communications used to support philanthropy; stewardship; alumni activities, programs and achievements; and other Advancement priorities.

A skilled writer, the successful candidate must be passionate about bringing ideas to life across a broad spectrum of communication channels, including social media. S/he will work closely with colleagues in both Advancement and College Relations to share information, leverage story opportunities and assist with projects that support the College’s fundraising priorities. The position also involves writing for CC: Now, a monthly e-newsletter for alumni, parents and friends; conceptualizing new approaches to increase site traffic to key Advancement sites; and developing strategies to leverage social media opportunities with alumni, parents and friends.

A high degree of energy and enthusiasm for communications and fundraising, as well as a commitment to working in a team-oriented environment with other writers, designers, marketers and social media strategists, is expected.

A bachelor’s degree plus 1-3 years related experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven ability to write and edit clearly, accurately and concisely; demonstrated qualities of creativity, imagination and initiative; and knowledge of emerging trends in advancement communications.
