CONNECTICUT COLLEGE, a highly selective private liberal arts college, located in the

historic seaport of New London, seeks candidates for the newly created Linda Lear Special Collections Librarian.  This position will help meet the rising demand for use of primary source resources among Connecticut College faculty and students. Reporting to the Director of the Linda Lear Center for Special Collections & Archives and working in collaboration with the Director and the College Archivist, this individual will be responsible for planning departmental activities; creating and managing digital projects; assisting with College exhibits, events and programs; providing instruction and assistance to classes; processing manuscript collections; developing grant proposals; and maintaining current professional and technical knowledge through training and participation in professional organizations/publications; other duties as assigned.

ALA- accredited master’s degree in library or information science with 1 to 3 years of experience in a special collections or archives setting required, advanced degree with coursework in an area related to collection strengths, especially natural history, conservation, and the history of the environmental movement preferred.  S/he must have experience providing reference and instruction for primary source materials; familiarity with standards and techniques for digitization of rare materials; project management skills in the creation and presentation of print and digital collections and exhibitions; experience processing archival collections; ability to work collaboratively and manage several projects simultaneously.
