Upward of 500 U.S. colleges & universities compete in RecycleMania to see which recycles and minimizes the most waste.

For the fifth consecutive year, Connecticut College has finished in the Top 25 in RecycleMania, a 10-week recycling competition that promotes waste reduction among colleges and universities..

In 2010, the College earned 20th place out of 346 schools in the Per Capita Classic, and also finished in fourth overall and first in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in the Targeted Material - Bottles and Cans category.

In 2009, Connecticut College ranked 27th in the Per Capita Classic competition of RecycleMania with a cumulative recycling rate of 42.44%.

In 2008, the College finished 8th in both the "Grand Champion" portion of the competition, which measures the percentage of the total amount of solid waste recycled on each campus, and in the "Per Capita Classic," which measures the total amount of recyclables collected per person. Connecticut College finished first among peers in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), beating rivals Amherst, Williams, Tufts, Middlebury, Bowdoin and Colby. Connecticut College also edged out Yale, Princeton and Harvard.

In 2007, we were in the top 25 out of 200 colleges and universities.

In 2006, we came in 5th place out of 87 colleges.
