Concert from Conservation

Concert from Conservation

The Concert from Conservation is a creative student initiative designed to reduce electricity consumption in the residence halls. Through this incentive, a percentage of the money saved from conserving energy goes to sponsoring a concert for the students.

The initiative is sponsored by the Connecticut College Renewable Energy Club and has been supported by the Student Government Association and the Environmental Model Committee.

Students from the different residence halls compete to use less electricity than in previous years (a five year average). Then 25% of the resulting savings goes to the Student Activities Council to sponsor a concert.  The 2007-08 result was a 12% savings of electricity from the five-year average, equivalent to 108,000 kWh saved, netting the students $2400 to stage the concert.
