Information Services
Media Services
Media Services, located on the lower level of Shain Library, provides
the Connecticut College community with equipment and technical support
to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. Presentation support
for college events (i.e. symposiums, conferences) is also available. Media
Services offers assistance and consultation in the selection, design,
and utilization of equipment and systems, as well as instruction in the
production and distribution of instructional media.
Priority will be given to requests made three or more days in advance.
Events requiring direct technical support and/or specialized set-ups may
require seven or more working days notice. Please consult with Media Services
early in the planning process. Late requests will be considered only if
equipment is available.
The following equipment can be reserved for self pick-up by calling Media
Services at x2693:
- Overhead, slide, film,video, and data projectors
- CD, cassette, and laserdisc players
- 35mm and digital still cameras
- VHS and digital camcorders
All other requests for service and set-ups must be made to the Office
of Conferences and Special Events at x2837.
Media Services offers a basic video editing suite for use by reservation.
The adjacent Advanced Technology Lab offers
a variety of advanced media creation workstations including an AVID digital
editing station.
Some of the new campus facility upgrades where Media Services will be
providing support include:
- High-end audio-visual system in Evans Hall.
- Interactive presentation podiums in Blaustein and Oliva Auditorium
that are outfitted with computer and network access, VCR, laserdisc,
and DVD players.
- A satellite TV head-end which distributes
television signals throughout campus, including three channels for campus
use.
