About the Friends of the Connecticut College Library

Founded in 1945, the Friends of the Connecticut College Library is an informal organization of individuals who share an interest in the programs and well being of the library.   Membership contributions are the primary source of financial support for the many programs, exhibitions, lectures and receptions sponsored by Special Collections every year.   Most of the lectures and programs are held in the Charles Chu Asian Art Reading Room . Contributions from the Friends also help us to acquire rare books, to pay for conservation projects and to support the annual Library Scholarship, which is awarded to a Connecticut College senior or alumnus who is pursuing a graduate degree in library science, book conservation or archival management.

All members of the Friends group will receive copies of the newsletter as well as postcard announcements and invitations to lectures and events.   Those who contribute at the $50 and above level are entitled to borrowing privileges at Shain Library and Greer Music Library.

For more information or to become a member, contact the Director of Special Collections and Archives or call 860-439-2654.
