The Irwin Collection was given by Catherine D. Irwin to Connecticut College, to become part of the Special Collections of the Connecticut College Library. The collection consists of photographs, telegrams, letters, books, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia concerning Frederic Irwin's experiences as an U.S. Air Force flyer in the SecondWorld War and as a prisoner of war in Germany. The Irwin Collection honors the memory of Frederic Irwin and his personal sacrifice for the war effort and preserves the record of one individual's experience of the larger historical drama.
The Irwin Collection was dedicated in a ceremony held on November 12,
1999 at Connecticut College.
