The very large size of the book, 58 by 39 cm, as well
as the fact that its binding is very brittle, made the job of
photographing it a challenge. Many of the large vellum pages would not
stay open without the aid of glass bars to weigh them down. The bars are
often visible in the photographs.
In order to take the photographs, the manuscript was placed on the floor
and I stood on a footstool as directly above the manuscript as was
possible. I used a Hewlett Packard digital camera. The photographs were
then cropped, resized, and optimized for the Internet using Photoshop 5.5.
Any questions about the photography or digitization of the images should
be directed to Brenda J. Johnstone, Connecticut College Class of 2000.
