Faculty and staff trainings
The LGBTQIA Center offers training workshops for faculty and staff throughout the year. Recent topics include "The Transgender Friendly Classroom," "How to be an Ally to Trans* Students" and "Best Policies for an LGBTQ Friendly Campus."
Student leader trainings
The LGBTQIA Center provides extensive educational opportunities for students, presenting lectures and workshops at new student Orientation for Housefellows and Floor Governors, Alana Big Sibs, in residence halls and at the LGBTQIA Center on a regular basis.
Student coordinators are available to provide educational workshops and training programs to the campus community. Some workshop topics include "How to Be an Ally," "Transgender 101" and "Straight Privilege." Trained student leaders facilitate the presentations. We work with dorms, teams, student groups, classes, offices and departments. If you're interested, check out our informational brochure.
In spring 2010, the Center launched the Queer Conn History Project. Students conducted archival research and interviewed College alumni. This research culminated in the installation of a multi-media exhibit in the LGBTQIA Center. Funding for the project was provided by alumnus Eric Kaplan '85.
The Center hosts many special lectures and workshops throughout the year. For the latest information on these events, consult the Online Calendar of Events.
