Q: Who is Charles Shain?

Charles Shain was the President of Connecticut College from 1962 to 1974, during which time the current Shain Library building was planned.

Q: Are there copy machines in the library?

Multi-function machines that copy and print are located on the lower level, first and second floors of Shain Library.

Q: Are there any jobs available for students in Information Services?

If you're a student looking for employment at the library, contact James Gelarden, the Access Services Librarian. His office is behind the circulation desk in Shain.

Q: May student groups use the display space in the library?

Arrangements for student use of display spaces should be made through the main Information Services office. The display cases on the first floor of Shain Library are primarily used for Special Collections exhibits.

Q: I would like to donate books or materials to the library. What do I do?

Contact a library liaison or the reference desk if you have materials you'd like to donate.

Q: I'm not affiliated with Connecticut College. Are there computers I can use? Will I be able to print?

There are eight publicly-accessible computer workstations in Shain Library available for Internet browsing and searching the library catalog and subscription databases. Printing privileges are only extended to members of the Connecticut College community.
