Students who display leadership skills and
contribute to the College's cultural diversity will benefit
from the scholarship fund.

The College has received a pledge of an additional $500,000 from The
Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation to provide scholarship support to students
who demonstrate leadership skills and contribute to the college’s
cultural diversity.
The pledge will bring the amount of the Virginia B. Slaughter ’48 Scholarship
Fund to more than $1 million.
Virginia Slaughter, of New York, is a 1948 graduate of Connecticut College and
has served on the Board of Trustees since 1997. She is also co-chair of the board’s
Committee on Student Life.
“The consistent and generous support of Ginny Slaughter and The Goldsmith Foundation
has been critical to the college attracting the best and brightest students,
regardless of the students’ financial ability,” said Gregory Waldron,
vice president of College Advancement.
