Professors commemorate retiring faculty

Retirees attending an annual dinner with Trustees were feted May 19 with a few words, many kind thoughts, and much praise. Following a long-standing tradition, a colleague spoke on behalf of each retiree, providing a glimpse into his or her contributions as well as personal insights gained through years of working together. These heart-felt tributes are shared below.

Remarks for Alan Bradford, Professor Emeritus of English, made by Julie Rivkin, Professor of English.

Remarks for Garrett Green, Class of 1943 Professor of Religious Studies, made by Lindsey Harlan, Professor of Religious Studies and Chair of the Religious Studies Department.

Remarks for Janis Solomon, Lucretia, L. Allyn Professor of German and Director of Film Studies, made by P. James McFarland, Assistant Professor of German Studies.

Professor of Education Helen Brooks Regan also retired this year, but was unable to attend the dinner.

The four retirees were profiled in the May issue of the e-newsletter.
