Five win athletic honors

CC's 2006 Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Jan. 27.

Four alumni and a professor emeritus of physical education will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame during festivities on Jan. 27.

The five will be recognized briefly during halftime of a 3 p.m. men's basketball game against Bates. After the game, plaques will be unveiled in the Hall of Fame Room off the foyer of the Charles B. Luce Fieldhouse. The game and ceremony are free and open to the public.

The athletes being inducted (with links to full biographies) are:

  • Jessica L. Archibald '95, one of CC's best rowers and a program-changing standout.
  • David W. Barron '94, a track and field star who also sang with the CoCo Beaux and was active in Campus Action for Social Equality and Justice.
  • Damien DePeter '95, a prolific lacrosse player; taught and coached locally while managing campus business ventures that helped finance his education.
  • Patricia S. Robinson '47, a three-sport standout (hockey, basketball and softball); went on to a career in athletics.
  • Sheryl Ann Yeary, a cornerstone of CC's athletics program for three decades; a professor emeritus and former head coach of tennis, squash and volleyball.

The athletes will be honored at a dinner on campus after the ceremony. For information on tickets, contact Judy Richard at 860-439-2541 or judy.richard@conncoll.edu.
