A message from President Lee Higdon

I have spent much of my first six months as president meeting with different members of the Connecticut College community, discussing priorities, asking for opinions and defining our vision.

You are part of an important group I am working hard to reach out to: our alumni. That effort will continue. As a result of our initial conversations and related work being done on campus, I am pleased to announce several new initiatives. We will:

  • Unveil a new alumni web site early next spring with news and features geared specifically to alumni.
  • Launch a new online community, also in the spring, that will let you stay in touch with classmates, network for careers, and post photos and class notes online.
  • Add features to the alumni magazine that are more sharply focused on the interests of recent graduates.
  • Link the magazine more directly to the College web site, www.conncoll.edu.
  • Redesign the alumni newsletter (and give it a name). Look for changes in the spring.
  • Publicize the College's alumni programs and events more effectively.

We want very much to hear from you. Please take a minute to tell us how we can help you stay connected with each other and with the College. Send your suggestions to Barb Nagy, director of advancement communications and editor of the newsletter, at banag@conncoll.edu.

If you're wondering what you can do for your alma mater besides sending us an e-mail, consider volunteering to be a class officer, helping with your reunion or regional events, signing up as an admission rep, or being a class agent. For information, e-mail Bridget McShane, director of alumni relations, at bamcs@conncoll.edu. Tell others about Connecticut College whenever you can. You can also endorse what the College has given you by supporting your alma mater through the Annual Fund, if you haven't already done so this year. Your gift, no matter the size, will make a difference.

Thank you.

Lee Higdon
