Dear Connecticut College Alumni:

It's a typical CC February: Students are back in class and the calendar is crammed with events ranging from a presentation on the 9/11 Commission Report to the dedication of a new recital hall. Here is the latest CC and alumni news:

• ‘Something I had to do.' Mach Arom '89 is looking for volunteers to help rebuild Phuket; a CC carpenter has answered the call.

• Inspired by Oprah. Amy Gross '63, editor-in-chief of O, has won a top award for her work.

• Loving a challenge. Philosophy major Kate Kovenock '05 finds success in the pool as well as the classroom. She has two meets left in her CC career.

• Francophiles. Joss Kiely '05 is the first recipient of a new fellowship that shares Margaret King Moore '54's love of France.

• Role models. Two CC professors have been honored by Connecticut state agencies as innovators in their fields.
