CC expanding the scope of Fall Weekend

Missing CC between reunions? Fall Weekend could be the answer.

The College is broadening its annual fall celebration this year and offering more for everyone — especially alumni.

Fall Weekend is the largest CC event aimed at the entire community: alumni, parents, students, friends, faculty and staff. Expanding the program seems like an ideal way to draw more alumni back to campus on a yearly basis, said Liz Cheney ’92, associate director of alumni relations.

She said it also will give parents and students a chance to meet more alumni and will give alumni a chance to learn what the College is like while classes are in session, students are on campus and the faculty is on hand. “It does change quickly, and we want our alumni to feel connected and plugged in,” Cheney said. Reunions are held in June, after the end of classes.

Activities this year will include mini-classes, walks and tours, entertainment, sporting events and panel discussions; topics will range from stem cell research to The Da Vinci Code. Cheney said the Office of Alumni Relations wants to offer plenty for visitors to do, but also leave time for their leisure activities both on and off campus.

A schedule of events for the weekend, which runs from Sept. 29-Oct. 2, will be mailed in mid-August and posted on the alumni web site.
