President Higdon, Celebration VII! and a lively schedule highlight Reunion
The stage is set for this year's June 1-3 celebration for class years ending in '2 or '7. Reunion 2007 is a time to renew old friendships, visit familiar campus places and find out what's happening at Connecticut College today. An estimated 1,000 alumni and guests are expected to return for the weekend. Registrations are up about 10 percent from last year. The Class of 2002 currently leads overall with 66 alumni coming back to campus. The Classes of 1997 and 1957 tie for second place with 55 alumni each, closely followed by the Classes of 1967 and 1987 with 52. President Lee Higdon, who is attending his first Reunion since arriving at Conn last July 1, will speak during an alumni convocation at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the College Center at Crozier-Williams. Higdon also will be on hand throughout the weekend, giving alumni plenty of opportunities to meet him and his wife, Ann. The weekend also features a variety of social activities (ranging from a wine-tasting led by Dean of the College Community Armando Bengochea to a 1970s mixer and DJ entertainment on the Green), mini-classes taught by faculty and an alumni book-signing. It's also the Reunion year for Celebrations VII!, for all alumni of color. Alumni receiving awards this year are: Helen Fricke Mathieson '52 (College Medal) Margaret Keenan Sheridan '67 (College Medal), Helene Zimmer-Loew '57 (College Medal), Judith Hartt Acker '57 (Agnes Berkley Leahy Award), Barbara Beach Alter '42 (Harriet Buescher Lawrence Award), Joan Gilbert Segall '57 (Alumni Tribute Award), Thomas A.
