Inauguration observes old traditions, creates new ones
An inauguration is more of an inheritance than a new beginning, Lee Higdon said Oct. 14 after officially becoming the College's tenth president. "We will earn for Connecticut College the standing and influence it so richly deserves. A Connecticut College education transforms lives and people across the country will know it," Higdon said. "We will succeed because of the power of our vision and our mission, because of the people who are here today. . . and those who came before us." View video highlights of the ceremony. Connecticut College students from more than 40 nations carried the flags of their homeland in the inaugural procession. The Peace Corps experience, the role of athletics at a liberal arts college, and excellence in teaching and research were the topics of three inauguration panels.
