10th Ranked Camel Women Finish Close Second at Antonia Schuman Regatta
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The Connecticut College women´s sailing team opened the season with the Antonia Schuman Regatta at MIT. The Camels, ranked #10 in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association National Poll, finished second out of 13 teams and just a single point behind the winning Tufts University squad with 216 points.
The Brown University Bears took third place with 220 points in the regatta. Harvard University placed fourth with a score of 234 points.
Junior All-America skipper Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) and senior All-New England crew Kelly Arabia (Braintree, Mass.) scored 117 points en route to a third place finish in the A division. In the B division, Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.), Katrina Salk (Jamestown, R.I.) and Christy Clothier (Newtown, Pa.) tallied 99 points in another third place showing for the Camels.
The 16th ranked Connecticut College coed sailing team opened the 2009 fall season with the Pine Trophy Regatta on the Thames River in New London. The Camels finished as the runners up behind the Coast Guard in the 13 team field with a score of 37 points. Senior Mike Marshall (Jamestown, R.I.), Peter Miller (Paget, Bermuda), Kyle Fast (Noank, Conn.) and Ben Bainbridge (West Hartford, Conn.) contributed for head coach Jeff Bresnahan´s squad.
