RIVERDALE, N.Y. --The Connecticut College men´s cross country team competed in the 15th annual Iona College Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park Saturday. The Camels finished 21st out of 23 teams in the field that was made up of mostly Division 1 competition. Connecticut College scored 606 points to hold off Big East Conference entry Seton Hall University, who finished 22nd with 698 points.
Sophomore Doug Wright (Darien, Conn.) posted a time of 27:15.26 on the 8k course as the top Camel finisher in 76th place. Junior David Aigler (Medfield, Mass.) was next in 157th place with a time of 28:53.32. Colin Gallant (Ashford, Conn.) was 159th overall with a time of 28:56.78.
Freshman Timothy Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.) completed the course in 28:57.57 as the 161st finisher in the field. Brett Herrick (Boxborough, Mass.) secured 168th place with a time of 29:17.20. Sophomore Brenner Green (Lisbon, Conn.) posted a time of 29:46.97 to finish 182nd overall.
Nate Lovitt (Madison, Conn.) rounded out the top seven in 192nd place with a time of 30:19.92. Numerous competitive unattached runners competed in the field. Connecticut College assistant coach Adam Fitzgerald ´04 posted a time of 27:07.98 to finish 70th Saturday.
