NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College coed sailing team competed in the New England Sloop Championship on the Thames River this weekend. The Camels, ranked #18 in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Poll, placed third in the 10 team field with 41 points.
Boston College won the regatta with a score of 27 points. The Brown Bears scored 35 points en route to a second place finish. Both BC and Brown earned automatic bids to the Sloop National Championship.
Junior Mike Marshall (Jamestown, R.I.), Kyle Fast (Noank, Conn.), Peter Miller (Paget Bermuda), Ben Bainbridge (West Hartford, Conn.) and Tim Clark (Easton, Conn.) competed for head coach Jeff Bresnahan´s Camels.
In women´s sailing action, junior All-American skipper Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) competed in the New England Singlehanded Championship at Boston College. Shea placed sixth in the 14 team field of competitors with a score of 89 points.
Anne Haeger won the regatta for the hosts with a score of 36 points for the Eagles.
