Palatino Scores Second Half Goal for Camels
MANSFIELD, Conn.--Sarah Swann (Oxford, Conn.) scored a goal in each half of action Wednesday to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors (5-3-1) to a 2-1 victory against Connecticut College (3-4) at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.
Sophomore Brigi Palatino (Ludlow, Mass.) provided a spark for the Camels with her second score of the season. Candice Clark (Queens, N.Y.) assisted on the tally. Senior Jenna Ross (Longmeadow, Mass.) made nine saves in the match to keep the Camels in contention.
Swan buried a header on a corner kick in the 21st minute of play. But Palatino scored the equalizer 6:01 into the second stanza for the Camels. The sophomore striker fired a shot from eight yards away that deflected off the keeper´s hands and into the goal.
After Palatino tied the game, Swan put the Warriors on top for good with her second score in the 71st minute of action.
Kim Church (Farmington, Conn.) made six saves in the match for the Warriors.
The Camels will host Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. NESCAC game in New London.
Sophomore Katelyn Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) has tallied three goals, two assists and eight points for the Camels. Senior Sharon Katz (Barrington, R.I.) has dished out a team-high four assists to go with two goals. Katz has contributed 14 goals, six assists and 34 points in her career.
