NEW LONDON, Conn. --Shavonne Lord (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored 2:42 into the second half Saturday to lead the 13th ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears (5-2, 2-2) to a 1-0 victory against Connecticut College (3-4, 2-2) in NESCAC field hockey action played on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field.
Ingrid Oelschlager (Roanoake, Va.) assisted on the game-winner with a hit from the top of the circle. Junior net-minder Emily Neilson (Chatham, Pa.) made four saves en route to her second shutout of the season.
Connecticut College senior Steph Quinn (Arlington, Mass.) collected seven of her 12 saves in the second half for the Camels. Quinn has made 42 saves in her first three starts this season.
The visiting Polar Bears out-shot the hosts 17-to-6 in the victory.
Bowdoin will visit Wheaton Sunday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. game in Norton, Mass. The Camels will visit Trinity College Saturday for an 11:00 a.m. game in Hartford, Conn.
