Camel Women Place Third out of 11 Teams in Varsity Four at Snake Regatta
WORCESTER, Mass.--The Connecticut College women´s rowing team opened the fall season with the Snake Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Central Massachusetts Saturday. The Camels had a successful start of the season in both the four and the eight women regattas.
In the varsity four, the Camels placed third in the 11 team field with a time of 19:34.69. WPI posted a time of 19:05.09 to win the regatta. Tufts took second place with a time of 19:16.73.
Sophomore Abbe Schickner (Norwich, Vt.) and Alex Heilman (Wayland, Mass.) were joined by Jessica Truelove (Bethlehem, Conn.) in the bow seat. Lesley Gaughan (Weston, Mass.) handled the stroke row and junior Robin Ly (Lexington, Mass.) was the coxswain.
The Camels displayed their talent and depth in the varsity eight regatta. The Camels A boat finished sixth in a time of 17:47.97 and the B boat was 10th in the field of 26 competitors with a time of 18:44.03. Mount Holyoke won the regatta with a time of 16:49.91.
In the A boat, junior Kaitlin Varga (Atkinson, N.H.), Sarah Brigandi (Winthrop, Mass.), Emily Perry (Westerfeld, N.J.), Mary Fergus (San Francisco, Calif.), Hannah Brassord (Boxborough, Mass.), Flora Drury (Goshen, Conn.), Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.) were seated two-seven for the Camels. Miriam Singer (Lyndhurst, Oh.) handled the stroke row and Arianna Puleo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was the cox.
In the B boat, senior Ari Merrill (Salt Lake City, Ut.), Sara Passeri (Duxbury, Mass.), Katrina Sereiko (Wellesley, Mass.), Freya Levett (Tenants Harbor, Maine), Sarah Brodsky (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), Kourtney Brim (Shawnee, Kan.), Heidi Carothers (Sutter, Calif.) were seated two-seven for head coach Eva Kovach´s Camels. Sophomore Justine Rooney (Centerville, Mass.) handled the stroke row and Lilly Spratt (Old Lyme, Conn.) was the coxswain.
