Thiam Scores Goal for Camels
HARTFORD, Conn.--Sophomore Peter Marlette (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored a goal in each half to lead 24th ranked Trinity College (7-1-1, 3-1-1) to a 2-1 NESCAC triumph against Connecticut College (5-2-1, 3-2) in Hartford Saturday.
The Bantams, ranked #4 in New England, have won five of their past six. The Camels, who have vaulted their way up to number five in the regional ranking, had their five game unbeaten streak snapped with the setback.
Marlette opened the scoring in the 21st minute of action and netted a penalty kick with 34:34 remaining to double the host´s advantage.
Sophomore Amadi Thiam (Westfield, N.J.) scored with 13:50 remaining on an assist from Tom Giblin (Ridgewood, N.J.) but the Camels could not get any closer.
Grant Schonberg (Mendham, N.J.) stopped eight Camel shots to earn the victory for the Bantams. Senior net-minder Alex Martland (Marblehead, Mass.) had ten saves in the setback for the Camels.
Connecticut College will host Mitchell College Wednesday afternoon for a 4:30 p.m. game on Tempel Green.
