Camels Place Ninth in 20 Team Field at Captain Hurst Bowl
HANOVER, N.H.--The Connecticut College coed sailing team headed north to Lake Mascoma to compete in the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth College this weekend. The Camels placed ninth in the 20 team field with a score of 76 points.
The Big Green of Dartmouth won the regatta with a score of 39 points. The Vermont Catamounts were the runners up with 40 points. Salve Regina University tallied 55 points in a third place showing.
Alex Olt (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Marina Gluckman (New York, N.Y.) scored 50 points to place 14th in the A division for. In the B division, junior Wells Bacon (Mount Desert, Maine) and Elizabeth Wilsterman (Winchester, Mass.) rallied the Camels in a fifth place sailing with a score of 26 points.
Closer to home, the Connecticut College women´s sailing team headed south to Branford for the Yale University Women´s Regatta. The Camels, ranked #12 in the nation, finished just a point behind Eckerd College in 11th place with a score of 211 points.
Yale University won the regatta with a score of 117 points. Boston College tallied 122 points en route to their second place finish. The Brown Bears placed third with a score of 140 points.
Junior All-American Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) and senior Kelly Arabia (Braintree, Mass.) placed 13th for the Camels with a score of 122 points. Sophomore skipper Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.), Christie Clothier (Newtown Square, Pa.), and Katrina Salk (Jamestown, R.I.) tallied 98 points in a ninth place finish for Connecticut College.
