WENHAM, Mass.--The Connecticut College field hockey team (5-8) erupted with three goals in a 6:21 span of the first half to build a 4-1 advantage and went on to defeat Gordon College (4-14) 5-2 in a non-conference game played at Wenham, Mass. Tuesday. Junior Abby Hine (Madison, Conn.) had a goal and an assist in the second straight win for the Camels. Jen Wallace (Farmington, Maine), Kelly Watkins (San Jose, Calif.), Lauren Gaffny (North Andover, Mass.), and Ellen Cavanaugh (Cheshire, Conn.) chipped in with scores for the Camels, who out-shot the Fighting Scots 17-to-8 in the victory. Hine supplied the game-winning goal when she put the Camels on top for good with 10:41 remaining in the first half. Steph Quinn (Arlington, Mass.) and Kelly Brennan (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) both had two saves in a half of action for the Camels. Alicia L'Heureux (Dudley, Mass.) made four saves for Gordon in the first half while Arielle Cimino (Bedford, Mass.) stopped a pair of shots in second half action. The Camels will host Wesleyan University Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in New London.
